Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

We never have access to this data. It remains on your device and under your
exclusive control.
Cloud Synchronization (Optional)
Kitchen Friend uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronize your data
across your Apple devices. Here's how this works:
- When you enable iCloud sync, your Kitchen Friend data is stored in your private
iCloud container
- Only you can access this data through your Apple ID
- We do not have access to your iCloud container
- Synchronization is encrypted end-to-end by Apple
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time through the Application settings
Recipe Scanning
Kitchen Friend allows you to scan recipes from physical sources using your device
camera. Here's how this feature protects your privacy:
- On-device processing: Your device's camera captures the text,
and the Application extracts text using on-device image recognition
- No image transmission: The image is never sent to any server
- On-device storage: The extracted text is stored only on your
device
Barcode Scanning for Cookbook Information
Kitchen Friend allows you to scan cookbook barcodes to retrieve book information:
- On-device barcode processing: Your device camera captures
the barcode
- No image transmission: The barcode image is never
sent to any server
- ISBN lookup: Only the ISBN number is sent to a third-party
book information API
Camera Permissions
Kitchen Friend may request the following permissions:
- Camera Access: To scan recipes and barcodes from
cookbooks
- You have complete control: You can grant or deny camera
access at any time through your device settings
